La' Merde Designs, LLC., is a revolutionary sustainable company, launched in August 2024, in Detroit, Michigan. Founded by Christine Burkette as a heartfelt tribute to her mother, Stella Edwards, this collection honors a legacy of style and environmental commitment. With a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Chemistry, Christine seamlessly integrates her love of fashion and science to create a company that is truly a trailblazer in the industry.
Experience how a native Detroiter brings her mother’s fashion dreams to life with a modern twist on sustainability! Our collection transforms post-consumer waste into high-end couture, featuring hand-painted murals by international artist Felle. With a local approach to tackling the 11.3 million tons of textile waste that end up in landfills each year, we aim to mitigate environmental contamination and protect our water supply.
